After leaving Magna Electronics (Magnatone), designer and innovator Donald Bonham went on to create Audio Guild Corp. The new company released a series of amplifiers in the 60’s and 70’s and despite them not really catching on with the players of the time, they have a very unique sound that falls somewhere between older Ampeg and Magnatone amplifiers. The secret sauce of this amp is the coveted Bonham Vibrato circuit that was famous from Don’s days at Magnatone. Another interesting innovation was the vertical baffle in the cabinet that was created to emulate the effects of an acoustic suspension speaker and omit the use of the low efficiency dampening foam.
This particular amplifier is in excellent condition for its age and shows only some slight peeling in the tolex. The amp comes loaded with the original Utah 12” speaker (dated 1964) and a set of Sylvania 7591a power tubes. Please note that this amplifier still has its original two-prong power cable - we strongly recommend the next owner replace it with a grounded three-prong plug.
