About Jacob
Born in Ellicott City, MD, Jacob grew up with bands such as Rush and Metallica as well as artists like Stevie Wonder before developing a love for progressive metalcore and other heavy genres. Inspired by the technological wizardry of bands such as Periphery, he led down a path toward a Music Technology Degree at Pittsburgh’s Duquesne University, where he focused on Sound Recording with a concentration in Jazz Guitar. He found his way into folk-punk project Frog Legs, who he has toured across North America with, and Lysandra. Graduating from Duquesne in 2024, Jacob moved back to Baltimore City and has been finding his way into the music scene locally ever since.
With lessons, Jacob focuses some of his knowledge as a producer into guiding guitarists to be versatile, self-motivated musicians. He combines knowledge of Music Theory with real-world riffs and fun exercises to assist the students in their musical journey. While he has a specialty in metal guitar playing, he is also experienced with pop punk and rock guitar of all styles; jazz, folk-punk, funk, pop, basic country, and R&B. Some of his favorite bands are Periphery, ERRA, Hiatus Kaiyote, Bring Me The Horizon, Steely Dan, and Origami Angel. Jacob is excited to grow alongside his students and gain some new perspectives through lessons. You can find some of his work at jacobreedaudio.com.
